Dr. Jorge Gaviria is a talented cosmetic gynecologist with special expertise in laser surgery.
He was one of the first in the world to study and publish on nonsurgical lasers in gynecology. Dr. Gaviria pioneered cosmetic gynecology in Venezuela. For the past 3 years he has headed the gynecologic division of the renowned Teknon multispecialty laser unit in Barcelona, Spain. He is currently working on several projects in Virginia. He sat down with Dr Pelosi III to discuss his work and the incredible tragedy of present-day Venezuela. Academic [4:00] Ob/Gyns were on board with cosmetic gyn from the beginning. Black market dollars [10:00] at ridiculous rates are the only way to attend US meetings. Support [14:00] is a process of learn, teach, learn more, teach more. The leadership [16:30] is innovative and internationally trained. They saw [17:30] that we were helping women. They wanted [19:00] well-trained doctors and not a bunch of mini societies. We saw [23:00] cosmetic gynecology as more functional than cosmetic. Even today [27:00] some countries are seeing cosmetic gynecology for the first time. Industry [34:00] creates laser users, but not laser experts who understand the physics. Barcelona [39:00] offered me the opportunity to run a laser unit and play with 21 machines. Three million [41:00] have left Venezuela in the last 5 years. The poor [42:30] are literally walking to nearby countries, but they are uneducated and becoming unwelcome. Nonablative lasers [44:00] have been my research focus for the past 3 years. In Virginia [48:30] I will be working with CO2 and Erbium lasers, radiofrequency and the magnetic chair. I plan [50:00] to compare CO2 and Erbium head to head. Every practice [53:00] should have at least 1 energy based device. SUBSCRIBE. IT'S FREE!

Barry Komisaruk, PhD, pioneered the study of the brain-body connection in orgasm.
He is the world's leading expert in this domain. His work began with animals, progressed to those with spinal cord injuries, and now encompasses women and men of all ages. His unique approach to studying orgasm will...blow your mind! Listen in as he shares the stories that made him a legend in his field with Dr. Marco Pelosi III. Neuroscience [5:00] emerged as a field in the 1960s. There are [6:45] at least 50,000 neuroscientists in the world. You are known [7:38] as The Orgasm Guy on the basis of things you did in your research. We were [9:45] studying brain activity in response to vaginal stimulation first in animals. Vaginal stimulation [11:15] in rats appeared to block pain receptors in the brain, so I had to do a human study. Surprisingly [13:30] women with complete high spinal cord injuries can feel vaginal stimulation. Functional MRI [14:45] was the best way to study the brain response in this situation and some women had orgasms. Nobody [15:30] knows where orgasm occurs in the brain so that led me to study healthy women under MRI. LEEP [17:00] procedures can cause loss of sensation throughout the body. I have [20:30] an animal lab and a human lab. I recruit [23:20] study subjects by word of mouth. Persistent [26:45] genital arousal disorder is caused by pressure from discs, etc. Others [27:45] develop genital numbness preceded by a period of hypersensitivity treatable with spinal surgery. What [29:00] prompted you to write your first book? To get [33:00] funded by the NIH, I couldn’t use the word vagina. The media [35:00] has interviewed you extensively. I grew [36:00] up in the Bronx. A few [37:00] crystals of estrogen placed in the brain of a rat turned on sexual behavior. Aside [38:45] from a group in Holland nobody else is doing neurological orgasm brain activity research. A typical [40:15] MRI session for this study takes two hours. I have [42:00] two sons both in education. For more information on Dr. Komisaruk, visit: http://nwkpsych.rutgers.edu/~brk/ SUBSCRIBE. IT'S FREE!

Sherrie Palm is the world’s leading patient advocate on pelvic organ prolapse.
She is the Founder and CEO of the Association for Pelvic Organ Prolapse Support (APOPS), and a pelvic organ prolapse (POP) Key Opinion Leader, She is the author of the award winning book Pelvic Organ Prolapse: The Silent Epidemic which is into it’s third edition. Also, she is an international advocate and public speaker on women's health empowerment and multiple aspects of pelvic organ prolapse quality of life impact. She discusses her work and her passion with Dr. Marco Pelosi IIII. The AUA [2:30] has a large bladder health initiative. POP [3:30] stigma is massive and embarrassing. 25-45 [6:00] is the largest age group affected. Childbirth [7:30] is the No. 1 cause of POP. 50% [12:45] of all women are affected. The disconnect [13:45] is poor access to a POP curriculum among MDs and other healthcare professionals. Screening [16:00] should be offered to all women. Celebrities [18:00] are reluctant to speak up on this issue. Do [20:45] your homework when choosing new treatments. I had [23:30] symptoms for 17 years before I was diagnosed for a bulge. I was [27:45] angry that I’d never heard of this so I made it my mission to talk about it. I decided [29:30] to write a book while healing from surgery. A non-profit [31:00] was the best way to get the word out. I spoke [32:30] At medical conferences most, but enjoyed women’s events best What was [36:45] your business background? I communicate [39:30] with patients and clinicians. I built [40:00] a closed group on Facebook for women to discuss everything. Everything [45:00] is discussed in detail and there is no TMI. We [49:00] can feel the empowerment of open discussion. A big [53:30] women’s conference is on the agenda. I hate [55;00] politics, but I love what I do. ACOG [57:00] recently restricted access to amazing and helpful POP videos to members only. I’m open [59:00] to working with any organization that addresses pelvic health. My plan [60:00] is exploding awareness. _____________________ Sherrie Palm can be reached at all of the following places: Sherrie Palm Book and Backdrop: https://www.pelvicorganprolapsesupport.org/sherrie-palm APOPS homepage: https://www.pelvicorganprolapsesupport.org/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sherrie.palm LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/sherriepalm Twitter: https://twitter.com/sherriepalm General Contact: https://www.pelvicorganprolapsesupport.org/contact SUBSCRIBE.
